ONE CITY
That is More Mobile, More Affordable, and More Accessible!

Now is the Time

Nashvillians Asked, We Answered.

More than 66,000 pieces of community input from across 70+ plans and studies over the last decade all show that Nashvillians want less traffic with faster, more reliable and more affordable trips, no matter where, when, or how they choose to travel.

Green Lights for Nashville

With Nashville’s current growth, traffic has gone up and affordability has gone down. The proposed improvement program would reduce traffic congestion, along with the transportation costs associated with more time on the road, and expand alternatives for getting where you need to go.

How it's Funded

Choose How You Move proposes a half-cent sales tax increase in Davidson County to fund the improvements to reduce congestion and modernize Nashville’s signals, sidewalks, service, and safety to better handle the needs of the city we have become.

Funding Breakdown
  • The increase for the average household is estimated to be about $6 a month, or $70 a year, while decreasing the burden of transportation costs day in and day out.

  • The majority of the revenue from the sales tax increase will come from tourists and commuters into Davidson County, not residents.

  • This funding would provide over $150 million per year in new local revenue for transportation.

  • The sales tax surcharge unlocks up to $1.4 billion in federally matched funding.

VOTE FOR NASHVILLE ON NOVEMBER 5!

Early voting starts October 16.

Let's Go!

Join our effort to pass this measure and build a better future for all of us.

In early 2024, Mayor O’Connell unveiled plans for a transportation improvement program called Choose How You Move. Choose How You Move – An All-Access Pass to Sidewalks, Signals, Service, and Safety builds upon more than 70 plans and studies conducted by the city over the last decade eliciting more than 66,000 pieces of feedback from Nashvillians.

It’s time to choose how we move, Nashville.

On November 5, 2024, Nashvillians will have the opportunity to come together and vote FOR our city’s collective future. This measure aims to modernize our city and build a transportation system that connects Nashvillians with affordable, reliable transportation options.

As the name suggests, this initiative recommends transportation improvements across Nashville in four transit-related areas: Sidewalks, Signals, Service, and Safety.

Recently, the Mayor released a series of maps detailing how dedicated funding approved by voters in November could improve:

  • Bus Rapid Transit on the busiest roads

  • WeGo's Frequent Service Network

  • Sidewalks

  • Smart traffic signals

  • Expanded local public transit service

  • New and express transit routes

86

MILES

An additional 86 miles of sidewalk. In 2023, Nashville funded and constructed just 6.55 miles of sidewalk.

600

TRAFFIC SIGNALS

Synchronization of 600 traffic signals along major corridors to improve traffic flow and allow drivers and riders to move through intersections more seamlessly.

38

BRT Miles

38 miles of bus rapid transit (BRT) lanes along major corridors making the city's busiest routes more accessible.
